Club Med Val Thorens opens out onto the world’s largest ski area, with 600 kilometres of equipped slopes, 320 signposted runs, and some 174 ski lifts. **3 Valleys (3 Vallées), is a ski region in the Tarentaise Valley, south of Moutiers.  As implied by its name, the area originally consisted of three valleys: Saint-Bon, Allues, and Belleville (where Val Thorens is located).  The skiing area has since been extended into a ‘fourth’ valley, the Maurienne valley.

Club Med Val Thorens Sensations has 384 rooms featuring top-end design providing maximum light and comfort.  Enjoy magical moments of sheer relaxation in your room and fabulous views over the ski area from your balcony.  Many of these offer interconnecting rooms.

Junior Suite

Enjoy a warm, refined ambience in this Junior Suite with a furnished balcony looking onto the mountains. The Junior Suites measure 44 sq. metres with a balcony measuring 3 to 4 sq. metres. Junior suites can interconnect with a club room and these are usually located on the 7th floor of the hotel.  Most of these have a view over the ski slopes, the mountains or the ski lifts.

The luxury of space and a truly fabulous view are included with this elegant Suite with balcony.  Suites are located on the top floor of the hotel with the best view of the ski slopes and mountains.  They measure 54 sq. metres, with a 9 sq metre balcony. Suites can interconnect with a club room.

Club Med Val Thorens chefs prepare delicious, creative cuisine and impeccable table art. They pull out all the stops to ensure you have a fabulous and entertaining meal.  Located on the first floor with a terrace, the Main Restaurant is a warm and friendly restaurant proposing a new-generation buffet concept with the best of mountain cuisine.

For good food moments in an intimate atmosphere, The Epicurious, offers a variety of great eating experiences in a “Gourmet Lounge” spirit.  A warm decor blending authenticity and modernity provides the perfect backdrop for tasting fine local produce.  Depending on the time of day, you can relax with a gourmet lunchtime picnic or an elegant tasting menu in the evening, courtesy of master chef Edouard Loubet.  With 2 Michelin stars and 5 Gault & Millau toques to his credit, he was named chef of the year in 2011.  You will find more surprises in store in the wine cellar* and fine grocery corner*. For those who can’t wait to get out on the slopes, the self-service corner in the ski room has hot drinks and snacks to take away.

Club Med pride themselves on having the most all-inclusive drinks package available. At Club Med Val Thorens the bar is truly open for anything you desire from wine, beer, cocktails, soft drinks & juices. You can enjoy drinks any time…perhaps after a fun day of skiing, pre-dinner cocktails and canapés with family and friends or wine & beer with lunch and dinner. It also means you don’t have to worry about how many drinks the kids may have signed to the room throughout the day!

At the Main Bar, on the 4th floor, you will find a friendly atmosphere with plenty of buzz, warm colour and vast windows. Perhaps you may prefer intimate evenings in the lounge bar, located inside the Epicurious Gourmet Lounge.

Skiing & Snowboarding

Professional ski and snowboard instructors, who are perfectly familiar with the ski domain at Club Med Val Thorens, will guide you over the slopes best suited to your level of skill, to ensure you progress safely but surely in the best possible conditions. This is done in small groups of approximately 12 people.

A test at Club Med Val Thorens   is held on the first morning to determine your level, and the right class for you. Club Med group lessons (from age 12) are available all day for 5 days from Monday to Friday. In order to guarantee the progress of beginner skiers, they must take the first lesson on Monday. The ski pass for the Les 3 VALLEES, is included for 6 days from Monday to Saturday, if you want to ski the day of arrival, you can purchase a day pass on site.

The resort is equipped with a “hands free” ski pass system ensuring greater fluidity for skiers (you may be required to pay a deposit to ensure that skiers return their card at the end of their stay).

Beginners: this is your first experience of Alpine skiing
Class 1: you can control your speed, and are at ease on blue runs
Class 2: you can negotiate red runs at a reasonable speed
Class 3: you are at ease on all runs
Expert: you are at ease on all types of terrain and snow

Club Med Val Thorens Skiing

Group lessons are held from the age of 12. Ski pass is available from age 4*

*Lessons must be arranged as an optional extra.  Group skiing lessons every day except Saturday are offered for children from 4 to under 12 with a French/English-speaking instructor. Lunch is included in the price.  Children must be taken to the class by their parents (a 5-minute walk from Club Med).

Children’s diploma ski course 5 days (Optional Extra*)
Group skiing lessons every day except Saturday for children under 12, with an English/French-speaking instructor. Lunch included in the price. The course includes ski diplomas such as Flèche, Chamois and Ski Cross.

Club Med Val Thorens strongly recommend you wear a helmet. Helmets are compulsory for off piste skiing. They are also compulsory for youngsters up to 11 years old at all times: they receive a helmet on loan with the Club Med ski/snowboard equipment rental package.

Glacier walks, ice driving, luge run on the longest track in France, Indoor tennis courts, Swimming pool, ten pin bowling, squash, cinemas, nightclubs.  Most of this is located in town and not on the Club Med premises.

While Club Med Val Thorens Sensations does not have any formal facilities for families, it still offers an excellent destination for those seeking a fantastic ski holiday without kids clubs. The Suites and other rooms offering offer interconnecting options for children and you can pay additional for their ski lessons.
